Global Learning Symposium
KWRGS had received a project grant from the British Columbia Centre for International Cooperation to organize a “Global Learning Symposium” in Fall 2009.
The objectives of the Global Learning Symposium were:
- To share realities around specific Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in the North and South;
- To foster cross-cultural learning and build awareness around international development issues; and
- To provide Southern partners with a platform to share their lived experience of global issues and together with host communities, to apply this learning to the challenges of today.
It is a great pleasure to announce that Miriam Samuel, President of the Centre for International Social Work, was the keynote speaker from Chennai, South India.Â Miriam Samuel has been working in the field of social work for the last 22 years and brings expertise in the field of gender analysis.Â The Centre for International Social Work is actively involved in global issues, providing leadership through innovative, international experiences, to enhance cross-cultural learning for better international understanding; for upholding justice; and for empowering people. The activities of the centre include student and faculty exchanges, research, consultancy and training and organizing conferences, workshops and symposiums.
