Behind the Curtain
KWRGS received a grant from the New Horizon’s For Seniors Program to develop a theatre project and production called Behind the Curtain in summer 2015.This project aims to expand awareness of elder abuse in the women’s community while bringing all ages together in a collaborative way.
Get the conversation started by checking out this wonderful locally produced video that suggests we raise awareness about elder respect as well as about elder abuse. Link: Canadian Perspectives on Elder Abuse
Want to Volunteer?
We would need volunteers for:
Stage 1: COMPLETE
Content development – identifying issues within our community and ideally forming an exchange of mentorship and ideas between youth and senior volunteers.
Looking at innovative ways to stage a dramatic conversation that engages the audience, encourages feedback and participation and encourages action to create social and personal change.
Advance promotion: through staging vignettes to postering and sharing through social media.
Stage 2: COMPLETE
Staging the play such as at Kamloops Players’ StageHouse – from actors to behind-the-scenes crew and concessions volunteers as well as ongoing promotion. Come bring your skills, gain new experience and have fun while engaging in social change.
Stage 3: CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS
Outreach: Taking the play out into the community to venues such as the library, schools, seniors homes and other venues.
Please join us and let us know what you’re interested in contributing and learning and what fits with your schedule.
